Run-Walk-Roll 5K Race and 1 Mile 'Fun Run' for the Kids

The Bucks County Intermediate Unit (Bucks IU) Education Foundation, in partnership with the Central Bucks Sertoma Club, are hosting their 5th annual ‘Run–Walk–Roll’ on April 28, 2018.  This family-friendly event, is perfect for runners, racers, and rookies offering a morning full of fun and activities with both an official 5K race (part of the Bucks 5K Series of races) and 1 mile ‘Fun Run’ perfect for beginners or families.  Held rain or shine at the Bucks IU, located at 705 N. Shady Retreat Road in Doylestown PA, proceeds from this event benefit Bucks County children with hearing disabilities.   

Making it a full morning of fun for serious racers and entire families, additional activities and vendors such as a DJ for music, face painting, and food will be available.  Preregistration for both the Fun Run and 5K is strongly recommended to ensure receipt of a race day shirt.

FUN RUN

Beginning promptly at 9:00 a.m. this easy, one mile ‘Fun Run’ is perfect for families to kick off spring.  Take advantage of this great opportunity to get outside and exercise together - the course is stroller and wheelchair friendly so everyone can participate, and is perfect for beginning racers, easy joggers, or those who would just like to walk. 5K RACE

Beginning at 9:30 a.m., the 5K race course is officially certified by the USA Track and Field Association with the miles accurately measured and clearly marked.  Marshals ensure safety over the course, with street closings where necessary, and water stations strategically located.  Race times are officially calculated by an official race timing organization and will be tallied by both gun and chip times.  To register or for more information, please click here.

There will be lots of winners!  One overall male and female winner will be named as well as one male and female age graded master runner.  There will also be awards for the first 3 runners in each age group, both male and female, and the age group categories include under 8, 9-11, 12-14, and then groupings of ages spanning 4 years after that up to 80+.  To register for the entire Bucks 5K Series of races, or for more information on this Run – Walk – Roll race, please go to  www.bucks5kseries.com.

14-Year-Old Casey Schaeffer, 2018 Champions of Commerce Community Service Award Winner, to Host Full Heart Kids Carnival

 

The carnival will feature pony rides, a bounce house, game truck, large tent, cotton candy machine, t-shirts, and local mascot appearance, with proceeds benefiting A Soldier’s Hands, Joyce’s Voice for Cats Adoption, and the Full Heart Music Scholarship.

Neshaminy Mall Spring Carnival

This family-friendly event features daredevil circus acts, favorite fair food, carnival games and midway rides for all ages, from whimsical kiddie rides to state-of-the-art thrill rides.

There is no charge for carnival parking, admission and Victoria Circus shows, including exciting high-wire and aerial acts and The Globe of Death motorcycle thrill show inside a 15-foot steel cage. Showtimes are 7 pm and 9 pm Monday - Friday and 3 pm, 7 pm and 9 pm Saturday - Sunday.

Unlimited ride wristbands (for riders 36 inches and taller) are $25 Monday - Thursday and $30 Friday - Sunday.

Ride tickets are $1.50 each, $25 for 20 tickets, or $50 for 50 tickets plus 1 free ride. Rides take 2 or more tickets each.

21st Annual Golf Classic

The Education Foundation of the Bucks County Intermediate Unit (Bucks IU) is excited to be holding their 21st Annual Golf Classic Benefit on Monday July 23, 2018 at The Doylestown Country Club, located on Country Club Lane in Doylestown Pennsylvania.  Home to a stunning and challenging 18-hole golf course and wonderful clubhouse, offering superb cuisine, this private club will be open to the public this one day just for this special event.  All proceeds benefit the Bucks IU Education Foundation; an independent, private, 501(c)3 nonprofit, charitable organization whose objective it is to fund creative and innovative educational opportunities for Bucks County students with special needs.  To date, the Education Foundation has awarded over $450,000 in grants.

The Golf Classic will begin with a lovely buffet luncheon followed by a shotgun start of 18 holes of golf with snacks and beverages supplied at the 5th and 13th holes.   The always exciting, and challenging, putting contest will be a featured activity once again. Finals for the putting contest will be held once everyone has completed their round of golf.  The reception following includes an open bar, cocktail food stations, and dinner featuring roast beef, meatballs, wings, and ribs.  During the dinner service breaks, the awards ceremony and door prizes presentation will be held. Tickets for the full day of golf, food and activities are $200, with $35 tickets available for anyone who may wish to just attend the reception and awards ceremony.   Participation in additional games and activities that will take place throughout the day, is optional.

Ekenywa "Walk For Water" 5k Run/Walk

Ekenywa Creative Change is holding our "Walk For Water" 5k Run/Walk on August 25th, 2018 at the Tyler Park Arts Center. Our goal is to raise funds and awareness to bring clean water to millions in need. 

Your $35 entry fee will provide a lifetime of clean drinking water for 4 people! Will you join us in our mission and make your steps count?

Event will include a 5K Fun Run/Walk, awards for the top 3 runners (male and female categories), family fun activities, kids races, creative kids corner, music, snacks and lots of fun! Participants will receive a t-shirt and finisher medal. There will also be raffles with lots of great baskets! Feel free to bring your furry friends along too.

Join America’s First Animal Shelter on Monday, September 17 at Talamore Country Club for our third annual charity golf outing benefiting our homeless cats and dogs.
