United Way of Bucks County is looking for a reliable, committed, team member to provide support at the HELP Center in Bristol Borough.

HELP Center is the healthy eating and living partnership and is a joint project of United Way, St Mary Medical Center, Bucks County Opportunity Council, with funding from Penn Community Bank. It provides food, home goods, cleaning supplies and other essential items free of charge to people in our community who need assistance.

Our HELP Center Associate is responsible for managing and monitoring all inventory, assisting clients and Member Agencies with shopping and pick-ups, assisting United Way staff with product distribution and volunteer management, and coordinating aspects of building use with our partners and building maintenance with the building owner.

This is a great opportunity for someone who delivers exceptional customer service, has retail or warehouse experience, and wants to help people in our community.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Pick-up or receive, load, deliver, and unload program supplies and donations.
  • Manage and monitor inventory to ensure quick distribution to the community.
  • Welcome and help all Member Agencies and clients picking up items at the HELP Center.
  • Work with United Way staff and volunteers; ensure all feel welcome and understand the value of the HELP Center.
  • Work with Resource Development team to determine what products are needed.
  • Manage all paperwork in a highly organized way.
  • Help with data entry as needed.
  • Reply to all questions and requests – internal and external – quickly and professionally.
  • Assist in coordinating freight for large and/or long-distance donations.
  • Ensure that facilities are clean, organized, and safe for program operations.
  • Successfully maintain performance parameters and improve skills through various means.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Essential skills:
  • Must be able to interact and communicate effectively with program partners, donors, staff and volunteers in a friendly, welcoming, and courteous manner.
  • Must be able to organize a variety of tasks, meet deadlines, define problems and pay careful attention to details.
  • Must have some availability outside traditional working hours, including some evenings and weekends. There will be a minimum of one evening and one weekend shift a month, but some months may require more.
  • Must have reliable transportation, have a valid Driver’s License, minimum required insurance, and a good driving record

Physical Requirements

  • Sorting, packing, stocking, loading, and unloading, including items up to 50 lbs
  • Occasionally assisting in projects which may include painting, drilling, or hammering
  • Ability to help with basic general maintenance of HELP Center, including moving and creating displays and making minor repairs
  • Ability to twist, pull, push, lift (up to 50 lbs.), bend, squat, climb, walk, stand, sit for extended periods
  • Use of pallet jack, stacker, and/or forklift (with proper training)
  • Manual dexterity for operating small tools and equipment
  • Visual acuity for driving and frequent computer use

Resource Development Associate

United Way of Bucks County is looking for a full-time Resource Development Associate.

Our new colleague will be a driven, detail-oriented self-starter, extremely organized, and comfortable “managing up.” They will assist our development team with many tasks that support our fundraising, relationship building, and marketing.

Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the RD Associate provides high-level administrative support for development operations. This includes help with reports, research, donor communications, and technology support to the Resource Development team.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Work with RD, Finance, and the CEO to ensure timely gift acknowledgment for all donations
  • Maintain reporting schedules and pull reports as necessary
  • Help maintain and update all department/campaign dashboards
  • Assist with appeals, prepare mailings, donor lists, and post-campaign reports
  • Conduct research and present results as directed by CDO (eg new businesses)
  • Coordinate, organize, and track campaign materials; re-order as needed
  • Customize and update materials for donors and prospects as needed
  • Track and follow-up on prospects and donors as directed by the CDO
  • Support fundraising and stewardship events, including attendance/RSVP’s, guest outreach, preparing materials, and inventory management
  • Respond to inquiries from donors and funders
  • Liaise with the Finance Department regarding donor gifts as needed (e.g. alerting finance and database manager of gift designations, etc.)
  • Liaise with marketing/communication team and impact team to be sure that messaging is aligned throughout the organization
  • Assist with scheduling and preparation for RD meetings with donors and prospects
  • Schedule and coordinate meetings with donors and supporters (eg check presentations, thank you visits) as directed by CDO
  • Other duties as assigned, including occasional support for other departments during events (Stuff the Bus, Bucks Knocks Out Hunger, Holiday Gift Card Drive, etc.)
Required Background, Skills and Qualifications:
  • Passion for United Way of Bucks County’s mission and desire to help people in our community
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of office work experience in a related setting, ideally in a fundraising and/or nonprofit environment
  • Prior experience with fundraising software or CRM
  • Self-motivated team player, with exceptional organizational and communication skill
  • Flexibility, ability to adapt to shifting priorities
  • Highly reliable, extremely organized, and detail-oriented
  • Exceptionally comfortable with technology
  • Eager to learn new skills; capable of identifying training opportunities for themselves and others
  • Schedule is somewhat flexible, but is not limited to business hours; some weekends and evenings will be required

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Provide guests and team members with safe and secure environment
  • Practice safe work habits including, but not limited to, the use of personal protective equipment, safe lifting techniques and reporting of unsafe situations

Requirements and Competencies:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must have at least a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Must have an American Red Cross CPR/AED and First Aid certification or must be able to pass all requirements to obtain certification in these courses
  • Must have no significant performance deficiencies within a 1 year period.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in shaded and non-shaded areas in all weather conditions
  • Must be able to work with large crowds in a fast paced environment
  • Must be able to stand and walk for full shifts
  • Security experience preferred
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekdays, weekends, holidays and nights across all three shifts.
  • Must be able to successfully complete all legal, company and department training requirements to include but not limited to passing required tests and certifications within established timelines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
