Credit Counseling Center’s Fundraising Gala & Silent Auction on May 19 Will Honor Founder Joan Reading, MSW
The Credit Counseling Center (CCC) will hold a Fundraising Gala & Silent Auction on Thursday May 19 at Spring Mill Country Club, in Ivyland, PA, honoring Founder and President Joan Reading as she enters retirement after 28 years of service. Reading has led CCC’s efforts in providing services to more than 100,000 individuals and families in need of financial help, giving them guidance and tools to improve their quality of life, as well as greater opportunity for economic mobility.
The Fundraising Gala and Silent Auction will begin at 6 p.m. and conclude at 10 p.m., and will feature butlered hors d’oeuvres, buffet food stations, a complementary cocktail, open bar, dessert, and raffle and prize. Tickets are $125, and are available for online purchase by visiting

Tax deduction letters are available upon request. “What makes CCC so unique is that it offers a safe place for everyone to talk to a professional counselor about a very emotionally charged topic – money,” said Ryan Fuller, Chairman of CCC’s Board of Directors. “Many people are not taught how to manage money, and where else can you get simple questions answered such as, is my current financial situation working? Or, can you help us discuss our finances? Attending the Gala and Silent Auction is a perfect way to support CCC while appreciating Joan for her foresight in recognizing this need in our community."
Reading started the organization in 1994, with the desire to help people drowning in debt find a way out of debt, and still hold on to their credit life. “Our Debt Management Program was set up so that clients repay their debt to creditors while maintaining their credit at the same time,” said Reading. “This creates a win-win situation: The clients reduce their debt over time, and creditors get paid.”
Today, Credit Counseling Center, with three offices in Richboro, Doylestown and Levittown, offers programs that address different stages of people’s financial lives: general coaching on developing a viable budget; building credit and/or credit repair; first home buyer programs; mortgage delinquency; the foreclosure prevention program, in partnership with the Bucks County Court of Common Pleas Foreclosure Diversion Program; bankruptcy counseling; student loan repayment options; and retirement and workplace webinars/seminars.
Credit Counseling Center’s staff members regularly give educational financial empowerment presentations to schools and colleges, groups, local municipalities, and workplaces. “Whenever you
have a financial concern, or decision to make, we are here to help, no matter what your income or situation,” Reading said.
Paula Powers-Watts, who has been with the agency since 2009, has been selected by CCC’s Advisory Board to be Executive Director of CCC. Paula is a firm believer that each and every client is a representation of a family whose lives, financial challenges and needs are important. She looks forward to helping even more families take control of their financial lives and thrive.
