Drugs in the Workplace: What Businesses Can and Should Do Now

Livengrin Foundation

David Blenk comes to Livengrin Foundation with almost 30 years’ experience in mission-oriented non-profit settings in and around Pittsburgh, PA. For 20 of these 30 years he has been in executive leadership roles. David has been with Livengrin since April 2018 and currently serves as the President and CEO.

Prior to his employment at the Foundation, David was the Executive Vice President of Corporate Planning & Business Development at Gateway Rehabilitation Center in Pittsburgh PA and at its affiliate the Neil Kennedy Recovery Clinic in Youngstown OH. As a key member of the senior leadership team, David was directly involved in the strategic planning and direction setting and in the organization’s business development activities. David also worked directly with the management of marketing, evaluations/assessment, utilization, outpatient services, facilities, dietary, housekeeping, and construction. Gateway Rehab and Neil Kennedy have provided alcohol and drug dependency treatment for patients and their families since 1972.

David holds a Master’s of Architecture degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo and a Bachelor’s of Architecture degree from Penn State University. David has focused his career on planning. He applies the same disciplined planning skills to strategic and corporate planning as he one applied to the designed environment.

Prior to his employment at Gateway Rehab, David spent seventeen years working in community development as the executive director of two small non-profit development corporations. David has worked with community-based programs assisting in business development, access to capital, community organizing, job training and workforce development, and affordable housing. David has developed rental and owner occupied affordable housing and has managed a modest affordable housing portfolio. David is a strong believer in collaboration and has used his skills to build community coalitions weaving approaches to issues of homelessness, mental health, housing, community participation, business interests, and grass roots neighborhood needs into single comprehensive and coordinated change strategies.

David has attended several intense leadership training programs, has served as a social work field instructor and guest lecturer, has served actively on multiple non-profit boards and coalitions, and has received numerous awards and accolades for his professional and academic work. David is a married father of 4 children.
