SCORE Bucks County’s wildly popular
Women Building Businesses Conference is making a comeback on June 14 after a
three-year hiatus.
The fourth annual event features a
keynote address from NBC10 anchor Tracy Davidson, as well as informative
sessions from several successful
women entrepreneurs, and plenty of networking among
attendees and event exhibitors.
Known for her talks on resilience, the
Emmy-winning journalist is a good fit for the event, according to SCORE Bucks
County Chairwoman Linda Zangrilli.
“Tracy will
bravely reveal her own life experiences and share research-based skills which
have enabled her to overcome challenges in her life,” Zangrilli said.
The daylong event will provide
attendees with “practical, usable information to take back with them and apply
immediately to their business,” according to Zangrilli, who is organizing the
event with fellow SCORE mentors Vicki Brown, Nina DeRosa, Leah Cianfrani and
Denise Walsh.
In a variation from previous events
which included a panel format, this year’s conference will feature a discussion
and accompanying question and answer session from each of the seven speakers.
Social media expert Jennifer
Gardella will share insights on how to market through social media.
Branding expert Lynne Williams
will talk about creating your personal brand using LinkedIn.
Colleen LaCoss, Women’s Business Enterprise Center East, director of certification
and business development, will discuss how to get your woman-owned business certified.
Employment attorney and small
business owner Christina Reger, who serves as president of the Greater
Philadelphia Chapter of National Association of Women Business Owners, will
share human resources tips for small businesses.
Sonya Pappas, a partner in business advisory and accounting
firm GSM Advisory Group, which serves small business owners across the country,
will speak on the topic, Know your Numbers/Know Your Worth. Pappas has been an
entrepreneur for three decades and understands the world of small business and
family-run enterprises.
Melinda F. Emerson, also known as “SmallBizLady,” will
offer a lunchtime address on the 12 P’s of Running a Successful Business. The
best-selling author of “Become Your Own Boss in 12 Months,” Emerson is CEO of
Quintessence, a marketing consulting firm serving Fortune 500 companies that
target small businesses.
“We selected
the topics based on our client needs. Our SCORE methodology teaches us to
listen to our clients, so we have selected topics that should resonate with
women entrepreneurs,” Zangrilli said, adding that social media remains one of the
biggest pain points.
