The Payroll Factory, Inc. February
2024 Newsletter.
We turn the calendar to February, the Super Bowl, the Valentine’s Day holiday, Spring Training and the IRS is open for business and accepting 1040 tax returns from your clients.
By now your clients should have given whether in person or via mail their employee’s 2023 W-2’s.
Early last month, the Biden
Administration issued new rulings attempting to put more contractors on company
payrolls including industries such as Healthcare, Construction, Hospitality
(restaurants) and Transportation. The
rulings are to go in effect as of next month (March) and would provide a test
for employers in terms of classifying employees as either W-2 or independent
contractors. We should know more as
March arrives.
If you have a client in one of the
New England states, here are the minimum wage rates as of January 1st,
2024:
Connecticut: $15.69/hour
Massachusetts: $15.00/hour
Rhode Island: $14.00/hour
Vermont: $13.67/hour
New Hampshire: $7.25 per hour
Please feel free to circulate this
newsletter to your staff and clients.
As always “whatever it takes,” I look forward to working with you, your associates and above all your clients. Thank you very much and have a great day and month!
