Solution #2: Effective Communication
When there is effective communication in the
workplace, you’re likely to see a boost in team morale. What makes
communication effective? Leaders and team members must be willing to have an
open, honest, and constructive dialogue.
For more delicate issues like employee
performance, one-on-one meetings with two-way conversation is preferred, but
not all communication needs to be about serious issues. Simply asking employees
what changes or improvements they would like to see in the workplace
can make your employees feel heard and valued. Many companies have found that
employees ask for inexpensive, achievable upgrades, and that these small
improvements can massively boost morale. This is because your team feels like
you are really listening to them. Who knows? Buying a much requested coffee
machine (equipped with some coffee beans) may be what is needed to increase
employee satisfaction.
Effective
communication starts with leadership. Leaders must be honest with employees
about what they can expect in their business, and employees must be given the
space to communicate their desires with the leadership team. As healthy
communication develops, employees feel more secure in their role, more valued
at their job, and more invested in their company.
